We’re stocked and ready to rock the first Cookies and Donuts of the year! For a delicious after school treat, pop over to our stall at 3.15 every Friday in the school playground. From cakes and biscuits to donuts and crisps, find the perfect end of the week snack. All proceeds go to Avening School 💚 Keep a look out for our themed weeks too, where you’ll find some fun home bakes on offer! 🧁 Cash, card and phone payments accepted (min payment for card/phone is £1). We’d like to say a huge thank you to Heaven of t We’d like to say a huge thank you to Heaven of the South for their wonderful donation of £650 💚 Heaven of the South (HOTS) is an annual three day mountain bike event run entirely by volunteers, with every penny raised going to local charities. This year’s event, held in Wotton-Under-Edge, saw 350 riders following a choice of two courses, either 50 or 75 km (30 or 45 miles). The routes tackle some extremely challenging terrain and steep climbs, and more than half of the course is off-road. Tickets are already available for next year’s event, so head over to heavenofthesouth.co.uk to find out more and get involved 🚴🏻 @heavenofthesouth HOTS raised £19,500 in 2025 and since 2011 have raised in excess of £180,000 for local charities and good causes. As the school year draws to a close today, it’s As the school year draws to a close today, it’s been incredible to look back at everything our community has achieved. An absolutely fantastic, record-breaking total has been raised, which has funded some wonderful projects, trips and school resources. Thank you to all the teachers, children and their families, and to all the local residents and businesses who have volunteered, donated, supported and sponsored FOAS. 🌟 You’ve made it an amazing year 🌟
Summer Celebration Last Friday on a scorching aft Summer Celebration Last Friday on a scorching afternoon, we had great fun at the Summer Celebration. With as many gazebos as we could muster, we enjoyed games, face painting, hair braiding, football, hot dogs, Pimm’s and a classic tombola. What a fantastic event… with the raffle, tombola and Summer Celebration combined, we all raised a whopping £1829! Well done everyone!! This is such a fantastic result, and will help tremendously in pushing us closer to our £7,000 playground equipment target. Thank you again to all the local businesses who kindly donated food items and fantastic raffle prizes. Absolutely incredible support. Thank you so much also to the parents, grandparents, teachers and students who helped make the afternoon such a roaring success. We all loved it! THANK YOUS…. Thank you very much to The Dursley Open Door Club, Thank you very much to The Dursley Open Door Club, who very kindly loaned us their beautiful wooden tombola at last Friday’s Summer Celebration.

The charity supports local, disabled adults and their families in Dursley, Cam, Berkley, Wotton-Under-Edge and surrounding areas, providing a wide range of activities and events. We really appreciated the tombola, and are very pleased to announce that it raised over £190! 🌟 Thank you 🌟
This week, Avening Primary School will say goodbye This week, Avening Primary School will say goodbye to a brilliant Business Manager, Mrs Sollis, and wonderful Play Team member, Mrs Woodman. Serving the school for 25 and 27 years respectively, these fabulous ladies have touched the lives of so many children at Avening School, and they will both be dearly missed. A special thank you to Mrs Sollis from everyone at FOAS for all your support, the last minute requests, handling raffle tickets, mountains of tombola donations, keeping parents in the loop, and just generally being awesome. We really appreciate everything you’ve done for us. Wishing both Mrs Sollis and Mrs Woodman a very happy retirement ♥️
